Giving importance to listening to the voice of his constituents, erstwhile congressman ‘Kuya’ Edwin Olivarez has reopened People’s Day for the first time as Parañaque’s mayor-elect to fulfill his family’s commitment to providing genuine public service to the citizenry.Â
Mayor-elect Olivarez, who had served as the city’s representative in the Lower House of Congress for three consecutive terms, demonstrated the vibrancy of his service to the public during the regular weekly event on June 5, 2025.
The newly elected local chief executive was joined by his brother, former mayor Eric Olivarez, who will now serve as congressman and the voice of the people in the House of Representatives.
The brothers were well received by their constituents, who gave them a warm welcome with their loud applause. The mayor and congressman were also joined by broadcaster and journalist Mario Teodoro ‘Ted’ Failon Etong, who attended the affair as a special guest and to also witness the truth behind the local government’s success in serving the people of Parañaque.Â
People’s Day has been institutionalized by the Olivarez brothers as the best way of hearing and listening to the concerns of their constituents so they can immediately take action on the suggestions, complaints and issues they receive straight from the people.
Representative-elect Olivarez gave recognition to the support and help of his staff, led by Chief of Staff Ding Soriano, as well as Officer-in-Charge Eva Nono, Director Kleoh Viray, Bernie Amurao, and Rudy Ojo, Atty. Arvin Tapia and Leo San Buenaventura.
The Congressman gave audience to several attendees, among them the officials of Cavitex, Philippine Military Academy (PMA) graduate Second Lt. Vladimir Cyrus Yutico, Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials Atty. Mario Esguerra and Atty. Nesrin Cali, representatives from San Miguel Corporation with city administratir Atty. Voltaire Dela Cruz, Barangay Don Galo chairman Marilyn Burgos, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Parañaque officers led by Fire Superintendent Alexander Baena, Integrated Bar of the Philippines IBP officers with Atty. Danny Gapasin, Pastoral San Antonio De Padua, San Antonio De Padua Parish in Bgy. San Antonio and Bgy. San Antonio council an Joy Guevarra.
On the other hand, aside from listening to the concerns of his constituents in the City, mayor-elect Olivarez likewise gave pause to the problems and requests of several groups and associations, like the Scotland Neighborhood Association Inc. of Bgy. San Isidro led by its president Irene Ong, Purok 2 Friendship Lane NAI of Bgy. Moonwalk with association president Marites Nicerio, Payatas Sta. Maria Neighborhood Assoc. Inc. of Bgy.
