President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated May as “Ease of Doing Business Month” to strengthen government efforts in improving service delivery, fostering a business-friendly environment, and enhancing bureaucratic efficiency.
Under Proclamation No. 818, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on March 3, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is tasked with leading the annual observance. The agency is directed to develop and implement programs aligned with the initiative’s objectives.
All government agencies, including government-owned and -controlled corporations and local government units, are instructed to collaborate with ARTA to ensure the initiative’s success. The private sector and non-government organizations are also encouraged to participate.
The observance aims to raise awareness and reaffirm the administration’s commitment to streamlining regulations, reducing red tape, and accelerating economic growth.
ARTA, established under the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, is responsible for overseeing compliance, recommending policies, and implementing measures to improve government services and business operations nationwide.
