Marcos urges civil servants to press on despite political distractions

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday urged government employees to remain focused on their work despite what he described as growing political noise.

Marcos made the call during a flag-raising ceremony at the Malacañang grounds.

He said the administration has been effective in disrupting the “old guard,” a process that inevitably generates resistance.

The President stressed that such resistance must be endured because the reforms being pursued are correct, necessary, and beneficial to the country.

Marcos added that the present moment is crucial for fixing long-standing problems and improving the lives of Filipinos.

He also expressed gratitude to government workers, saying many have gone beyond the call of duty in fulfilling their responsibilities.

In a separate speech earlier this month, Marcos likened the government’s anti-corruption drive to removing cancer from a complex system.

He said such an effort requires major and difficult surgery, which inevitably comes with pain and sacrifice.

The President apologized to those who have suffered as a result of the government’s aggressive anti-corruption measures.

Marcos said the hardship is necessary to prevent the country from merely tolerating corruption, expressing confidence that the nation will heal quickly.
