President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday led the ceremonial turnover of 333 housing units at Disiplina Village Arkong Bato for families relocated from flood-prone and other high-risk areas in Valenzuela City.

The development is planned to accommodate 960 qualified informal settler families, including those affected by the Supreme Court mandamus requiring the cleanup of Manila Bay and residents living in danger zones.

Nine buildings under the first three phases have so far been completed, accounting for the 333 units turned over. The relocation of beneficiaries began in April.

Marcos said the project showed how coordination between the national and local governments could produce tangible results for communities.

He described relocation as a safety measure for families whose homes are repeatedly exposed to flooding and other hazards, saying housing should provide security rather than become another source of risk.

The President also noted that the site is located near schools and healthcare facilities, which could make basic services more accessible to residents.

The project forms part of the government’s broader housing program, which includes the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s Expanded 4PH Program and projects implemented with agencies such as the National Housing Authority, Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Housing Finance Corporation and National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation.

Marcos said the government had delivered nearly 600,000 housing units from July 2022 to July 2026 under various housing initiatives.
