President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to return to his regular activities next week following a short rest after being hospitalized for diverticulitis, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said Thursday.

“The president is well… He has a lot of work now, especially paperwork. There’s much to sign. There’s much to read,” Recto told reporters at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Day celebration in Camp Crame.

Recto confirmed that Marcos will resume his normal schedule after taking the recommended rest, answering “Yes” when asked about the timeline.

Marcos did not attend the PNP event in person, but delivered a prerecorded message urging police officers to strengthen public trust and maintain a visible presence.

Commenting on the president’s appearance in the video, Recto noted that Marcos seemed thinner, joking that eating only soup for several days would have a similar effect on anyone.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) also addressed a false document circulating online that claimed Marcos had severe diverticulitis worsened by drug use, clarifying that the report was untrue.

Recto said he was unsure whether Marcos was considering an investigation into the fake document, adding, “I don’t talk to him about it, but there possibly is.”
