President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized that the Philippines’ path to sustained national progress lies in strengthening the partnership between the national and local governments.
Speaking at the proclamation rally of Team Marcos in Laoag City on Friday night, the President acknowledged the vital role of local government units (LGUs), noting that they are more attuned to the immediate needs of their communities.
“Our national agencies often operate only up to the regional or provincial levels,” Marcos explained. “This is why we rely heavily on LGUs to help deliver and implement programs where they matter most.”
He stressed that without strong coordination between the two levels of government, achieving meaningful development would be difficult.
Marcos reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing key sectors such as agriculture and healthcare. He also vowed to continue fostering job creation and investment opportunities across the country, especially in regions like Ilocos Norte.
“We will bring opportunities here—jobs, better income, and development—so Laoag and the rest of Ilocos Norte can continue to thrive,” he said.
The President also underscored the importance of electing administration-aligned candidates in the upcoming midterm elections to ensure seamless coordination and effective governance. Among those he endorsed was his son, Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos, who is seeking reelection.
“Our connection with these candidates isn’t just political—it’s built on shared goals for progress,” Marcos said. “By choosing the most capable, experienced, and high-performing public servants, you’re also choosing a strong alliance with the entire national government, led by your President.”
The rally served both as a political endorsement and a call to unity, with Marcos urging the public to back candidates who can work closely with his administration to bring prosperity to every corner of the Philippines.
