President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Friday that the Philippines has enough crude oil supply to last until June 30, 2026.
Marcos said existing reserves were sufficient for the coming months, but stressed that the government continued efforts to secure additional sources to support the transport sector and maintain stability.
Earlier, he directed the Department of Energy (DOE) to keep sourcing fuel despite the country having an estimated 45-day supply at present.
He emphasized that authorities should not halt procurement efforts, noting uncertainties in global supply conditions linked to tensions in the Middle East.
The President said the duration of disruptions, particularly those affecting key routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, remains unpredictable.
To address potential risks, the government has been exploring alternative suppliers, including Russia, Japan, China, and South Korea.
Marcos also issued Executive Order No. 110 declaring a state of energy emergency, which is set to remain in effect for up to one year unless lifted earlier.
The order outlines a coordinated response framework covering livelihood, industry, food, and transport to ensure steady energy supply, uninterrupted services, and continued economic activity, especially for vulnerable sectors.
