Warm and humid conditions were expected to persist across the country in the coming days due to the continued influence of the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday.
The weather bureau said these warm winds from the Pacific Ocean would likely affect most parts of the country for at least the next five days.
Forecasters said the prevailing system would bring generally fair weather, although isolated light rains may still occur, particularly in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa said the hot and humid conditions would be felt across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as long as the easterlies remain dominant.
Authorities also warned that heat index levels could reach dangerous levels in several areas.
In San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, the heat index was projected to climb to as high as 42°C, which falls under the danger category where prolonged exposure may cause heat stroke.
Metro Manila, meanwhile, was expected to experience heat index values between 37°C and 38°C, classified under extreme caution, where heat cramps and exhaustion are possible.
Despite the generally fair weather, the agency said localized thunderstorms may still develop and bring isolated rain showers, while noting that no low pressure area was being monitored within or near the country.
