President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has largely completed its mandate to examine alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Speaking to reporters in New York City, Marcos said the commission was finalizing its work by consolidating the findings gathered during the investigation.
The President said the panel was preparing its final report, which would summarize the results of the inquiry into the questioned infrastructure projects.
He explained that the next step would be to forward the information collected by the commission to the appropriate agencies.
According to Marcos, the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman may receive the documents if the findings warrant further legal action.
The President said the body had already carried out most of the work assigned to it when it was created.
Marcos established the Independent Commission for Infrastructure in September last year following public concern over alleged corruption involving flood control projects.
At present, the commission is led by retired Supreme Court justice Andres Reyes, its remaining commissioner after Rogelio Singson and Rossana Fajardo earlier stepped down from the panel.
