MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed concern over allegations of Chinese funding linked to Vice President Sara Duterte, warning that the matter could have serious implications for national security if proven true.
In a statement highlighted by the Presidential Communications Office on Sunday, October 11, Marcos emphasized the need to establish the facts before drawing conclusions about the allegations.
“Let us find the evidence and see what the truth is. The most disturbing aspect of this is the Chinese money. That rises to a national security issue kung totoo,” Marcos said.
The President stressed that the alleged involvement of Chinese funds warranted scrutiny because of its potential implications for the country’s security.
His remarks came amid questions surrounding alleged financial transactions involving Chinese entities and individuals or businesses associated with the Vice President.
Marcos, however, emphasized the importance of obtaining evidence to determine whether the allegations have any factual basis.
The allegations remain unproven, and the President’s statement did not establish that Duterte had received funding from Chinese sources.
