President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has started evaluating possible provisions for a proposed anti-dynasty law, Malacañang said Thursday.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the review followed a recent meeting between the President and Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
Castro said the discussions centered on how the measure could be structured to address political dynasties without creating unintended gaps or ambiguities.
Among the issues examined were the degree of familial relationships that may be covered and whether these would apply to relatives by blood, by marriage, or both.
The scope of the proposed ban was also discussed, including whether it should apply to national positions, local posts, or a combination of the two.
Officials likewise looked into how the prohibition might be enforced, such as whether it would cover simultaneous candidacies or extend to successive terms.
Castro said the study is still ongoing and that the Palace has yet to set a target date for completing its review of the bill.
