Marcos not seeking for SolGen’s removal from post

Solicitor general Menardo Guevarra

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday responded to solicitor general Menardo Guevarra’s statement that it is up to the president whether he is still fit for his post, saying that he is not seeking his resignation.

Palace Press Office Undersecretary said that she was able to discuss the issue with the President and he said “Hindi ko hinihingi ang pagreresign niya.”

The statement was made following the Office of the Solicitor General’s refusal from defending the government against the petitions filed by the children of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The petitions filed seek his release and safe return from the International Criminal Court premises in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Guevarra was then asked to assess whether he was still fit for the top lawyer’s post as he recused himself and his office from this responsibility, to which he responded, “It is up to the President.”
