Marcos, new UN resident coordinator vow stronger PH-UN partnership

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Philippines Arnaud Peral reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the country and the UN during a courtesy call at Malacañan Palace on Thursday.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), discussions centered on boosting collaboration to support the Philippines’ development agenda and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Peral, who assumed his post on Feb. 1 with the host government’s approval, has over 25 years of UN experience, having served in leadership roles in Tunisia, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba.

The UN remains a key partner of the Philippines in pursuing the 2030 Agenda and its 17 SDGs, which aim to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, and promote peace and prosperity worldwide.
