President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Marcos, formally inaugurated the 279-seat Likhang Filipino Theatre on November 7, 2026, providing a new venue for artistic performances, cultural presentations and other significant gatherings.

The facility is intended to serve as a platform for showcasing Filipino creativity, artistic excellence and cultural heritage.

The inauguration forms part of efforts to promote Philippine arts and culture by providing additional spaces where local performers, artists and cultural groups can present their work to the public.

The project was undertaken through the initiative of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, with support from the administration’s programs aimed at strengthening the country’s cultural sector.

With a seating capacity of 279, the theatre is expected to accommodate various performances and cultural activities, offering opportunities to highlight the talents of Filipino artists.

The opening also underscores the government’s emphasis on preserving cultural traditions while encouraging contemporary artistic expression.

The Likhang Filipino Theatre is envisioned as an additional venue for promoting the country’s creative industries and making Filipino artistic productions more accessible to audiences.
