President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was putting the finishing touches on his fifth State of the Nation Address, with Malacañang hinting that the speech could include major announcements.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos had nearly completed the address and was reviewing the final draft ahead of its delivery on Monday.
She said the President personally wrote the speech, as he had done in previous years, but declined to reveal the issues he planned to discuss.
Asked whether Marcos would address concerns over flood control projects, Castro urged the public to wait for the speech.
She said several contractors had already faced charges, while authorities were still gathering sufficient evidence against others who could be implicated.
Castro also suggested that Marcos could make significant pronouncements, although she gave no details about their possible nature.
She said the address was expected to highlight the administration’s accomplishments while outlining the President’s other priorities.
The Palace earlier said the event would be simple but dignified, with no celebrity directors or major performers, in line with government austerity measures linked to the impact of the Middle East crisis.
