President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. distributed rice assistance to farmers and vulnerable groups in Roxas City, Capiz on Monday as part of the government’s response to rising food and fuel prices.

The initiative forms part of a directive encouraging local government units to maximize their Local Government Support Fund and allocate up to full use of the funds for rice distribution programs.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, about 500 beneficiaries received 10 kilograms of rice each during the event held at a covered gym in Barangay Milibili.

Of the total, 300 recipients were farmers from nearby barangays who are members of local farmers’ associations.

The remaining 200 beneficiaries were from other sectors, including persons with disabilities and solo parents from Barangay Milibili.
