President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed former Albay Rep. Joey Salceda as secretary of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office, marking his return to the Cabinet after nearly two decades.
The appointment was contained in a letter dated July 20 and signed by the President.
Salceda previously served as presidential chief of staff under former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2007 before the position was abolished.
As PLLO secretary, he will oversee the office tasked with coordinating with Congress and advancing the administration’s legislative priorities.
Before entering government, Salceda held senior research positions at multinational investment firms, including UBS, SBC Warburg and ING Barings.
He later served six terms in the House of Representatives, where he chaired committees on appropriations, ways and means, economic affairs, and trade and industry.
Salceda also served as Albay governor, headed the Bicol Regional Development Council and became the first Asian co-chair of the United Nations Green Climate Fund.
He said he would work to accelerate the passage of the administration’s remaining priority measures and transform the PLLO into a stronger policy office connecting the President with Congress, businesses, academic institutions and civil society.
