Manila dancer Izzy Johnson won the Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines National Finals after topping a crowd-decided street dance battle held at Bridgetowne, Pasig, earning the right to represent the country at the world finals in Zurich, Switzerland.

Johnson secured the title in a competition shaped entirely by audience votes, with no judges on the panel, where crowd reaction determined who advanced in each round.

He said he felt less pressure and more excitement during the competition, adding that audience response served as his motivation as he performed through each battle.

Other finalists included Nemesis of Cebu and Doodsieroll of Davao, who helped set a high level of competition and showcased the diversity of Philippine street dance styles.

Organizers structured the event so that dancers faced unpredictable music changes, forcing quick adjustments in rhythm, style, and performance approach while responding directly to the crowd’s energy.

Johnson credited the local dance community for shaping his freestyle skills, saying he previously focused on choreography before developing a stronger freestyle style through community influence.

He also emphasized the importance of connecting with the audience, saying his performance focused on clarity of movement and emotional engagement rather than technical complexity alone.

With the win, Johnson prepared to compete against champions from more than 50 countries in the upcoming world finals, saying he aims to represent both himself and Filipino dancers on the global stage.
