Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso on Tuesday, October 13, turned over checks totaling Php 92.91 million in educational subsidies and student allowances to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST).

Accompanied by City Treasurer Paul Vega, Domagoso released Php 62.5 million in institutional subsidies to PLM and Php 6.8 million to EARIST.

The city government also distributed Php 23.61 million in allowances benefiting 7,869 PLM students, covering July, August, and September 2026.

Each student is entitled to Php 1,000 monthly, equivalent to Php 3,000 for the three-month period.

“Para ma-boost naman ang morale ng ating mga estudyante,” Domagoso said, emphasizing the importance of providing financial support to students pursuing higher education.

PLM President Domingo “Sonny” Reyes Jr. and EARIST President Rogelio Mamaradlo received the checks on behalf of their respective institutions.

The funding forms part of Manila’s October 2026 Social Amelioration Program, which earmarks Php 696.7 million in financial assistance for 333,258 beneficiaries across the city.

The program covers students, teachers, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, and public safety personnel.

Domagoso reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to strengthening educational opportunities under its Minimum Basic Needs agenda, which also prioritizes healthcare, housing, and employment.

The city government said continued investments in institutional subsidies and student allowances aim to ease educational expenses and help more Manila residents complete their studies.
