Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to press forward with major city-funded infrastructure projects in 2026, vowing that political pressure or intimidation would not derail programs meant to directly benefit Manileños.

Moreno said the city government remains focused on initiatives tied to education and housing, stressing that development priorities will continue regardless of the political climate. He confirmed that the long-awaited renovation of Magsaysay High School and the construction of Binondominium 2 will be completed as scheduled.

The mayor also announced that the remaining housing units at the San Sebastian, San Lazaro, and Pedro Gil Residences will soon be distributed, with beneficiaries to be selected through a lottery system to ensure fairness and transparency.

Beyond housing and basic infrastructure, Moreno revealed plans to establish a College of Medicine under the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, a move he said would strengthen both the city’s education system and its healthcare capacity in the long term.

“Even if cannons are placed in our way, we will build and finish Magsaysay High School. We will build Binondominium 2. We will distribute, through lottery, the remaining units at San Sebastian, San Lazaro, and Pedro Gil. We will build the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine,” Moreno said. “I will do my best. I will use all the energy, strength, and whatever resources I can squeeze from the towel.”

The mayor’s remarks underscore his administration’s push to anchor Manila’s development agenda on tangible, people-centered projects, as the city prepares to enter another year of governance amid an increasingly charged political environment.
