Police arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly threatened people while carrying an unlicensed firearm at a transport terminal in Barangay Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City, on Saturday night, November 7.
According to the Northern Police District (NPD), the suspect, an unemployed resident of Barangay Mapulang Lupa, was apprehended at around 10:20 p.m. at the PMU TODA Terminal following reports of a disturbance involving a firearm.
Initial investigation showed that personnel of the Valenzuela City Police Station Sub-Station 1 were conducting patrol operations along East Service Road when they received information about a commotion at the terminal.
Responding officers immediately proceeded to the area, where they allegedly found the suspect shouting threatening words while holding a firearm, causing alarm among people nearby.
Police said the officers managed to pacify the suspect before placing him under arrest.
Authorities recovered a caliber .38 revolver with no serial number, loaded with three live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect reportedly failed to present the necessary documents authorizing him to possess or carry the firearm.
He was subsequently brought to police custody for investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.
The NPD said the suspect will face criminal complaints for violating Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code, or Alarms and Scandals, and Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The confiscated revolver will undergo firearms identification and ballistic examination to determine its characteristics and possible connection to other incidents.
Police will also coordinate with the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) to verify the suspect’s firearm licensing status.
The NPD said the arrest was part of its intensified police visibility and anti-criminality operations aimed at preventing disturbances and responding promptly to threats against public safety.
The district reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order through regular patrols, rapid police response, and community-oriented law enforcement initiatives.
