‘Mall for All’: SM Supermalls, ASP partnership open autism-inclusive employment opportunities

SM Supermalls and ASP sign the Memorandum of Understanding for Inclusive Hiring of talents on the spectrum

Employment for individuals on the autism spectrum becomes more accessible as SM Supermalls recently inked a partnership with Autism Society Philippines (ASP), which aims to help them shine in the retail industry.

Pioneered by SM Markets back in 2016, such autism-inclusive hiring and partnership is part of SM Cares’ advocacy to empower inclusive employment. Its goal is to create welcoming environments and workplaces for people with disabilities where their unique strengths are celebrated and recognized.

These individuals can work as concierges in Book Nook, a flagship community learning hub under SM Cares, which also builds spaces to promote connection and belonging.

“Book Nook was always meant to be a space where everyone feels they belong,” mall executive Shereen T. Sy said. “Through this initiative, we bring that vision into sharper focus — creating not just a library, but a living story of inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity.”

Sharing inspiring and valuable insights after MOU signing

“This partnership with ASP reaffirms our commitment to being a ‘Mall for All’—a place where everyone can succeed and feel they belong,” shared Steven T. Tan, president of SM Supermalls.

The company continues to redefine inclusivity and compassion in public spaces—partnering with ASP to be guided from recruiting to developing and retaining talents on the autism spectrum.

“We need more companies carving a space for Filipinos with disabilities in their businesses, allowing them to contribute and grow,” remarked Mona Magno Veluz, Country Manager of ASP Autism Works.
