Malacañang taps public’s help in locating Cassandra Ong

Malacañang on Tuesday called on the public to immediately report any information regarding the whereabouts of Cassandra Li Ong, who remains a key figure in a pending human trafficking case linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Central Luzon.

The appeal comes after a warrant of arrest was issued for Ong, officially designating her a fugitive from justice.

In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has verified that Ong is still in the country.

”According to [the DILG’s] latest records, Ms. Cassandra Ong is still in the Philippines. The search continues because she is considered a fugitive since a warrant of arrest has already been issued,” Castro stated.

She urged citizens who may have seen Ong to promptly coordinate with law enforcement agencies to facilitate the serving of the warrant.

Castro added that all forms of assistance from the public would be valuable in the government’s efforts to bring fugitives to justice.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is offering a P1 million reward for information that successfully leads to Ong’s arrest.
