LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — The Office of the President distributed assorted vegetables and basic items to households in several barangays in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur on Friday.

The distribution covered 12 barangays, including Burabod, Cagamutan, Dangla, Mansangat, Cagnipa, Tamiawon, Binagasbasan, Sumaoy, Harrison, Canlong, Denrica, and Sagrada.

Data from the Presidential Management Staff–Bicol showed that around 4,048 families received cabbage, eggplant, squash, ampalaya, tomatoes, and onions.

Along with the vegetables, beneficiaries were also given ecobags and fans.

Officials said the initiative was part of government efforts to provide food assistance to communities while also supporting local farmers through direct sourcing of produce.

Residents said the assistance helped ease household expenses and provided additional food supply amid higher prices of basic goods.

Local officials said the distribution reached even island and remote barangays in the municipality.

The Presidential Management Staff said the activity was intended to ensure wider coverage of food support programs in vulnerable communities.
