In an industry long defined by male dominance, Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) is rewriting the script, proving that inclusion and innovation soar best together. As the country’s premier provider of aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a clear message: excellence in aviation knows no gender.
A walk through LTP’s hangars reveals a new era of aviation professionals at work — women confidently leading teams, calibrating instruments, and overseeing complex aircraft projects. Today, 260 women serve in technical roles, while another 50 hold leadership positions ranging from team leads to senior executives. Women now comprise 11% of the total workforce — a figure that continues to rise as the company cultivates a culture where merit, not gender, determines success.
“This transformation isn’t about filling quotas,” emphasized Holger Beck, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Philippines. “It’s about ensuring that anyone with passion, skill, and dedication has the chance to grow. Diversity strengthens us — it fuels creativity, problem-solving, and the spirit of innovation that keeps us competitive in the global MRO industry.”
Inclusion as a daily practice
At the core of LTP’s inclusive culture is a commitment to fairness and equal opportunity. Every employee has access to training and career progression programs based purely on qualifications and performance. The company’s strong partnerships with universities and technical institutions across the country ensure a steady stream of diverse, highly capable talent entering the aviation maintenance field.
Among the trailblazers is Mylene, the only female among the company’s 10 bay managers. Responsible for a team of more than 100 engineers and technicians, she began her journey as an avionics mechanic and steadily rose through the ranks. Her story is one of perseverance, skill, and quiet leadership in a field once seen as off-limits to women.
Then there’s Lucila, who started as an engineer and is now a division manager under base maintenance operations, overseeing large-scale MRO projects. Her ascent through the technical hierarchy underscores how LTP’s environment enables women to chart meaningful, impactful careers.
Both women embody the company’s ethos — that success in aviation is powered by competence and commitment, not conformity. Their journeys have inspired a new generation of women to pursue careers in aircraft maintenance and engineering.
Flying higher together
“What makes me proud is seeing our women technicians and engineers excel in roles once considered out of reach,” Beck shared. “Their accomplishments prove that when given equal opportunity, talent truly knows no gender — only drive, expertise, and passion for excellence.”
As Lufthansa Technik Philippines marks 25 years of shaping the country’s aviation landscape, it continues to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion not just as corporate values, but as the foundation for its next era of innovation.
Because in Lufthansa Technik Philippines, every talent — regardless of gender — truly takes flight.
