The Land Transportation Office (LTO) expressed its full support for the appointment of lawyer Giovanni Lopez as the acting secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
In a statement on Thursday, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said Lopez is the “right man to lead the department” in implementing reforms aimed at improving the country’s transportation system.
“On behalf of the men and women of the LTO, I warmly congratulate Secretary Lopez for his appointment to lead the DOTr. It is a well-deserved appointment,” Mendoza said.
Lopez briefly headed the LTO in 2022 and is familiar with the agency’s operations.
“Secretary Lopez’s deep institutional knowledge in the transportation sector makes him a better choice to lead the DOTr in achieving the plans and goals under President (Ferdinand R.) Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas,” Mendoza added.
The LTO assured its full cooperation with Lopez in enhancing government services for commuters and road users through efficient systems and better infrastructure.
During the turnover ceremony in San Juan City on Wednesday, Lopez vowed to continue the “gold standard” leadership set by his predecessor, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon. He also shared that President Marcos instructed him to ensure continuity within the DOTr after his oath-taking on Monday.
