MANILA – Offices of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in areas affected by the recent tropical storms will be open on Saturdays for motor vehicle registrations, and driver’s license applications and renewals.
In a memorandum, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said that opening the LTO’s district offices, extension offices, and driver’s license renewal offices (DLROs) on the weekends is necessary to accommodate clients whose transactions were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon.
“Due to the effects of two typhoons that hit the country and several work suspensions, which affected most of our transacting public, all Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors are mandated to assess the necessity of rendering services and opening offices on Saturdays,” the memorandum read.
Mendoza ordered an assessment of the offices that need to render Saturday services, focusing on areas affected by the flooding brought by Kristine.
The LTO has five district offices in Cavite, four district offices in Rizal, three district offices in Laguna, and district offices in Batangas City and Lipa City in Batangas.
“All DLROs in Calabarzon are also preparing for Saturday duty,” the LTO said.
The LTO regional office in Cagayan has scheduled Saturday operations for all district offices, satellite offices, and DLROs from Nov. 9 to Dec. 21.
Earlier, Mendoza announced that penalties for late motor vehicle registration and driver’s license renewals have been waived for those affected by Kristine. (PNA)
