The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered a driver involved in a heated confrontation with a parking attendant in Baguio City to explain his actions following a viral video of the incident.
The agency said the driver was seen in the footage acting aggressively and appearing to reach for a weapon while arguing with the attendant.
According to the LTO, the behavior shown in the video posed a clear danger and fell short of the conduct expected from a responsible motorist.
Because of the incident, both the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle were directed to appear before the agency to respond to a show-cause order.
The LTO said the inquiry will determine whether the individuals should be held liable for being improper persons to operate a motor vehicle.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the driver’s license was placed under a 90-day preventive suspension.
The vehicle involved in the confrontation was also placed on alert to prevent its transfer or use during the probe.
The LTO said the case forms part of its broader effort to address aggressive behavior on public roads.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao reminded motorists that roads are shared spaces where safety must be upheld at all times.
“Ang lisensya sa pagmamaneho ay isang pribilehiyo at hindi isang karapatan. Sinuman na mapatunayang hindi kayang magmaneho nang may disiplina, paggalang, at pananagutan ay maaaring mawalan ng pribilehiyong ito anumang oras,” Lacanilao said.
