The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order to the driver and operator of a passenger jeepney involved in a road crash in Cebu that left several people injured.

The order was issued to require both parties to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any violations were committed.

The agency said the directive was released under the supervision of the Department of Transportation headed by Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

Initial reports said at least 15 individuals sustained injuries after a sedan collided with a passenger jeepney that was unloading passengers at the time of the incident.

Authorities said five of those hurt were pedestrians or bystanders who happened to be passing through the area when the crash occurred.

LTFRB Chairperson Vigor Mendoza said the inquiry aims to establish the sequence of events and determine possible accountability related to the incident.

Both the jeepney driver and operator were instructed to submit written explanations and appear before the board during the scheduled hearing.

The LTFRB also directed its Regional Office in Central Visayas to coordinate assistance for the victims, including facilitating the processing of insurance claims for those who sustained injuries.
