The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) orders four bus operators to account for alleged lapses in the upkeep of their passenger terminals following inspections in Quezon City.

The regulatory body says the firms, two with terminals in Cubao and two operating in other parts of Metro Manila, were issued show-cause orders after inspectors documented multiple deficiencies.

LTFRB chairperson Vigor Mendoza II says the findings came from unannounced visits conducted to assess compliance with standards on safety, accessibility, and passenger comfort.

Inspection reports cite repeated shortcomings, including terminals with inadequate roofing, exposing commuters to heat and rain.

Authorities also note the absence of proper and separate restrooms for men, women, and persons with disabilities, as well as the lack of ramps required for PWD access.

Security gaps are likewise flagged, with some terminals found without closed-circuit television cameras or routine baggage inspection procedures.

The four companies are directed to attend a joint hearing on February 11 and explain why their franchises to operate public transport should not face possible sanctions.
