Weather authorities are keeping watch on a potential low-pressure system that could take shape over Southern Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa said the area of concern is embedded within the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where clusters of rain-bearing clouds have intensified.
This weather setup is expected to bring intermittent rains and thunderstorms over the Davao Region, with officials warning of possible flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Aside from the ITCZ, several other atmospheric systems continue to shape weather conditions across the country.
Pagasa said a shear line may trigger episodes of rain and thunderstorms over parts of Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora.
Easterly winds, meanwhile, are likely to cause isolated rain showers over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, the Visayas, and most of Mindanao.
Light rains are also expected in northern Luzon as the northeast monsoon affects the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, the Ilocos Region, and portions of Central Luzon, while no tropical cyclone is currently being tracked within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
