The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a low-pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility had already dissipated as of early Sunday, easing immediate concerns over a developing weather disturbance.

But it was not all clear skies just yet. Another low-pressure area outside the PAR continued to cast its reach, with its trough bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms across Mindanao and nearby areas.

Affected regions included Palawan, Eastern Samar and Southern Leyte, where cloudy skies and occasional downpours were expected due to the lingering weather system.

The agency noted that the extension of the LPA was still influencing weather conditions in parts of the country.

As of 3 a.m., the system was spotted some 2,195 kilometers east of southern Mindanao, far from land but still strong enough to affect local weather patterns.

The bureau said the chances of the disturbance intensifying into a tropical cyclone were slim, at least over the next couple of days.

Torres noted that the probability of it developing into a storm within 24 to 48 hours remained low, easing fears of a more severe weather event.

Still, Pagasa urged the public to stay prepared for sudden rains and thunderstorms, especially in areas already experiencing unstable weather conditions.
