The trough of a low pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was expected to bring heavy rain to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Friday, while most of Luzon would experience generally fair weather, Pagasa said.
The weather bureau forecast cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas, including Masbate, and the eastern sections of Mindanao, particularly Caraga, Davao Region, South Cotabato and Sarangani.
Luzon and western Mindanao, meanwhile, were expected to have generally fair conditions, although localized thunderstorms could develop in the afternoon and evening.
The LPA, located off the coastal waters of Nasugbu, Batangas, was forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday or Saturday.
Pagasa said the disturbance had a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and could weaken or dissipate as it moved west northwest.
Its trough may continue to bring scattered rain over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao through the weekend.
By Monday and Tuesday, the trough of Typhoon Dolphin, which remained outside the Philippine area of responsibility, was expected to affect Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao.
Although Dolphin was unlikely to enter the country, Pagasa said it could strengthen the southwest monsoon and bring cloudy skies with rain over Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Western Visayas and other parts of the Visayas early next week.
