The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the LPA was last located about 670 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The weather bureau said the system was unlikely to intensify into a tropical cyclone but would still bring rain, particularly in areas across the Visayas and Mindanao.

The LPA was expected to move westward across Mindanao toward southern Palawan, with rainfall beginning to affect eastern portions of the Visayas and Mindanao by Wednesday evening.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms were forecast over Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte due to the weather disturbance.

Meanwhile, Pagasa continued to monitor a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, which as of early morning was located about 2,395 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 70 kph.

Forecasters said the system may enter the country’s monitoring area between Friday evening and Saturday and could strengthen into a tropical storm or higher category before entry, although conditions may later limit its intensification. Once inside PAR, it will be given the local name “Caloy.”

Despite these weather systems, easterlies continue to affect much of the country, bringing generally fair but humid conditions, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms expected in Metro Manila and other areas. Pagasa also warned of high heat indices, which may reach up to 41°C in Metro Manila and as high as 45°C in Tacloban City, prompting reminders for the public to take precautions against heat-related health risks.
