BAGUIO CITY — First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos returned to the summer capital on Thursday (Nov. 27) to lead the annual lighting of the Christmas tree at the presidential Mansion. She kept the focus on the holiday celebration, away from the political noise in Manila.
Before the switch-on, around a hundred grade school students from Barangay Lualhati visited the Mansion. They joined games, received gifts, and enjoyed performances from the University of Baguio chorale and the Philippine Military Academy band, joined by its majorettes.
Marcos later met with the children and joined them as the giant tree lit up, followed by a short fireworks display. Former president and Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, a frequent Baguio visitor, was also present. Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Rep. Mauricio Domogan were seen in the crowd as well.
The First Lady has made the tree-lighting a yearly tradition since the Mansion was converted into a museum in 2024.
