Lawyer Levito Baligod, counsel for the 18 alleged former Marines, went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday to comply with a subpoena issued by the agency in connection with cyber complaints filed against him.
The subpoena was linked to complaints lodged by Leila de Lima and Flaviano Villanueva, who accused Baligod and the group of cyber offenses.
Baligod arrived at the NBI Cybercrime Division at around 10 a.m. and appeared without the 18 alleged former Marines.
He said he went to the office to respond to the complaint and to comply with the directive of investigators.
The complaints were filed on March 9 and were tied to allegations that De Lima and Villanueva had received money from former Ako Bicol party-list representative Elizaldy Co.
These accusations stemmed from statements made during a press conference and a joint affidavit executed by the alleged former Marines.
In the affidavit, the group claimed they had served as intermediaries in delivering Php 805 billion in supposed kickbacks linked to flood control projects.
Baligod and the 18 alleged former Marines had earlier appeared before the NBI on March 12 and 17 following previous subpoenas issued as part of the ongoing probe.
