Lanao Norte boosts support for small-scale farmers

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The provincial government of Lanao del Norte has distributed high-value and industrial crops to 190 small-scale farmers as part of its ongoing agricultural support initiatives.

The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) provided grafted calamansi seedlings to the farmers as part of this month’s pre- and post-harvest support program on Thursday.

“The responsibility in nurturing them now rests on us so we can enjoy its fruits. There’s a possibility that we could improve our lives,” Board Member Reinario Bihag, chair of the agriculture committee, said in a statement Friday.

According to the PAO, the grafted calamansi seedlings are designed for improved resilience and higher productivity, ensuring better yields for the farmers.

The initial batch of beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Kapatagan and Lala.

Distribution to farmers in other towns will continue throughout November and December.

The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader effort to empower small-scale farmers and enhance agricultural productivity across Lanao del Norte. (PNA)
