MARAWI CITY – Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office director Col. Caezar Cabuhat on Thursday commended more than 1,000 police augmentation personnel for helping maintain peace and order during the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections.
During a send-off and recognition ceremony in Marawi City, Cabuhat thanked the deployed personnel for their service and contribution to election security in the province.
A total of 1,145 personnel from various police regional offices and specialized Philippine National Police units were deployed to Lanao del Sur to reinforce local forces during the region’s first parliamentary elections.
The augmentation force included personnel from the Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao police regional offices, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14 and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units.
Lanao del Sur had been identified before the polls as having the highest number of areas classified by the Commission on Elections as security concerns, prompting the deployment of additional police and military personnel.
Cabuhat said the additional personnel played an important role in keeping the election peaceful and orderly in the province.
The PNP said the BARMM elections were generally peaceful and orderly across the region despite isolated violent incidents, particularly in Cotabato City.
Cabuhat also thanked the augmentation forces for their sacrifices and commitment throughout the election period, saying their deployment helped voters participate in the historic parliamentary polls under secure conditions.
