For many Filipino commuters, the most frustrating part of the journey happens before they even step into a vehicle. Long waiting times, driver cancellations, and unpredictable fares have become all-too-familiar hurdles in getting from point A to point B.
Now, Lalamove is offering Filipinos another way to move through the city with the launch of Lalamove Ride—a passenger transport service integrated into the same app millions already use for deliveries.
The move comes at a time when demand for ride-hailing services continues to outpace supply, particularly during rush hours. Metro Manila remains one of the world’s most traffic-choked urban centers, with motorists losing an average of 143 hours—or nearly six days—to congestion in 2025, according to the latest Traffic Index by Dutch location technology firm TomTom, which ranked the Philippines as the most congested country in Asia.
For commuters, the daily struggle often begins long before the ride arrives. One canceled booking leads to another app, only to be met with higher fares and longer wait times. By the time a ride is secured, the meeting may have already started—or the rain may have already soaked through.
Lalamove calls this “booking fatigue,” and it’s one of the challenges the company hopes to address through Lalamove Ride.
“A major pain point of commuters is that there are not enough available cars at the exact hours everyone needs one,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines. “At Lalamove, we believe solving mobility challenges starts with making rides more accessible and dependable for everyday commuters. With our almost 20,000-and-counting qualified ride-hailing partner drivers already on the road every day, Lalamove Ride helps increase the availability of rides when demand is high.”

Launched in February 2025, Lalamove Ride extends the company’s commitment to helping communities move—not only by delivering packages but also by making everyday commuting more convenient and accessible.
One of its biggest advantages is simplicity. Users do not need to download another application or create a separate account. Passenger rides are seamlessly integrated into the existing Lalamove app, allowing users to book deliveries and transportation services from a single platform.
The company is also taking an unconventional approach to driver incentives. Since December 2025, Lalamove has allowed qualified Ride partner drivers to keep 100% of their fares with zero commission and no conditions attached—a program that has now been extended until the end of 2026.
“Commission stays at 0% for the rest of the year, with no conditions or catch,” Nacario said. “When partner drivers take home one hundred percent of every fare with zero deductions, they have a real reason to accept more Ride bookings, and every accepted booking is one less commuter left waiting.”
For commuters, this could translate to more available drivers on the road during peak hours and improved booking success rates when demand surges.
Booking a ride is straightforward. Passengers simply enter their pick-up and drop-off locations and choose between Car for everyday trips or Car XL for larger groups or additional luggage. The service currently operates across Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan, as well as selected areas in Pampanga and Tarlac. Longer point-to-point trips outside Metro Manila are also available in covered locations.
Safety remains a key component of the service. Lalamove Ride incorporates technology-enabled safeguards, including a strict driver accreditation process, real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 in-app chat support, an SOS emergency button, and accident insurance coverage provided by Chubb for both passengers and partner drivers.
To make the experience even more rewarding, Lalamove is rolling out promotional campaigns for both riders and drivers.
Passengers who join the “Ride Your Way to Your Next Getaway” mission within the app will receive one raffle entry for every completed ride, with a grand prize trip for two to Japan that includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, pocket money, and a guided day tour. The promo runs until September 30, 2026, under DTI Fair Trade Permit No. FTEB-238247, Series of 2026.
Meanwhile, Ride partner drivers can participate in the “Drive & Win a Family Trip to Boracay” raffle, which offers tiered raffle entries based on completed rides, along with weekly ₱1,500 GCash prizes.
At its core, Lalamove Ride offers something many Filipino commuters simply want—another dependable option when getting a ride feels harder than the journey itself. And with passenger transport now built into an app many already have on their phones, getting around may soon become one less thing to worry about.
