The Laguna provincial government will provide free chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients who cannot afford care, Governor Sol Aragones announced Monday.
She made the announcement during an inspection of the new Chemotherapy Center, located next to the Dialysis Center at Laguna Medical Center in Santa Cruz, with preparations underway for its grand opening in April.
Aragones said the facility aims to help families who have had to travel outside the province or abandon treatment due to financial constraints.
She described the project as part of a long-term plan to improve health services in Laguna.
“Slowly, one by one, we will achieve this too. I won’t give up or stop as long as there’s a way to save many lives,” Aragones said.
Dr. Eric Tayag, former Department of Health (DOH) undersecretary and now Laguna’s health consultant, said the center can serve up to 40 patients daily.
The initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to making cancer treatment more accessible for residents.
