Police arrested a suspected high-value drug personality and confiscated about Php 3.4 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Oas, Albay, authorities reported Tuesday.
The Police Regional Office in Bicol identified the suspect only by the alias “Brader,” a Marawi City native who had been monitored over his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The operation was carried out Monday after an undercover police officer arranged to purchase illegal drugs from the suspect.
Police said the poseur-buyer obtained about 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 680,000, leading authorities to immediately arrest the suspect.
A subsequent search yielded four large plastic sachets containing another 400 grams of suspected shabu. The additional drugs were valued at approximately Php 2.7 million.
Authorities recovered a total of 500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of Php 3.4 million, according to PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib.
Police said the seized items were marked, documented and inventoried at the scene in the presence of required witnesses, in accordance with Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-5 director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda credited intelligence gathering and coordination among law enforcement units for the operation. He said authorities would continue combining enforcement with prevention, rehabilitation and community-based efforts against illegal drugs.
