The Kilicao-Binitayan Bridge in Daraga, Albay, is set to open to the public on Friday, October 30, 2026, following a 15-year delay in the project’s completion.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the bridge on Monday, October 26, alongside Albay Governor Noel Rosal and Albay 2nd District Representative Carlos Loria to ensure its readiness ahead of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day observances.
The inspection came five months after Dizon visited the project in May and ordered its immediate completion after years of delays.
The 70.60-meter steel bridge connects Barangay Kilicao and Barangay Binitayan in Daraga. Designed as a four-lane structure with a sidewalk and bicycle lane, the bridge aims to improve traffic flow and transportation accessibility in the area.
According to the DPWH, the scheduled opening follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that infrastructure projects designed to ease travel are operational before the Undas holiday period, when thousands of motorists and commuters are expected to visit cemeteries.
The bridge is also expected to facilitate the movement of goods, strengthen local businesses, and improve connectivity between communities on opposite sides of the Yawa River.
