FTI president & CEO Joseph Rudolph Lo, Department of Agriculture Asec. Arnel De Mesa, Asec. Genevieve Guevarra, Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., NFA Deputy Administrator John Robert Hermans, and NFA Department Manager Roy Untiveros ate cooked NFA rice—the same variety to be offered at ₱20 per kilo—as a demonstration of its quality and suitability for public consumption during a press conference on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Department of Agriculture Head Office in Quezon City.

The event was held in relation to the rollout of ₱20-per-kilo rice to be sold at Kadiwa Stores in Visayas, Negros Island, and select Kadiwa outlets starting May 1, under the “Bente Bigas Mo” program of the Marcos administration.
