Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile remains confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to pneumonia, his daughter Katrina Enrile confirmed Wednesday.
In a statement posted on social media, Katrina said her 101-year-old father “is under the dedicated care of his attending physicians and medical staff who are providing him with the best possible treatment and attention.”
She expressed gratitude for the public’s concern and prayers, asking for privacy as their family faces the situation. “We are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers, and support extended to our family during this time. Thank you very much,” she said.
The update came after Senator Jinggoy Estrada revealed during a Senate session on Tuesday that Enrile was in the ICU with “slim chances of surviving,” citing a “very reliable source.”
The Senate, led by Senator Joel Villanueva, offered a short prayer for Enrile’s recovery during the session.
