Two rare artifacts linked to national hero Jose Rizal will be auctioned at Salcedo Auctions this September.
Among the highlights is Rizal’s report card from Ateneo Municipal de Manila, dated September 20, 1876. Written in Spanish, the document shows Rizal earned second honors in his Historia Natural (Biology) class—contradicting the belief that he always topped all his subjects. It is valued between P350,000 and P400,000.
Also included in the auction is Rizal’s charcoal-on-paper piece, Portrait of a European Gentleman (estimate upon request), which reflects his artistic pursuits before he devoted himself fully to the Philippine Revolution.
