Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday posted a cryptic message on X following Sen. Rodante Marcoleta’s independent medical examination at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), appearing to question the latter’s condition.

Without mentioning Marcoleta by name, Lacson wrote that it was a “miracle,” saying a person entered the hospital in a wheelchair but left walking briskly.

He also praised the University of the Philippines Philippine General Hospital for what he described as its professionalism and integrity in submitting its medical findings to the Sandiganbayan.

Lacson’s post came a day after the anti-graft court ordered Marcoleta’s transfer to the New Quezon City Jail, ending his nine-day hospital arrest.

Marcoleta underwent an independent medical examination at PGH after previously being confined at the Philippine National Police General Hospital due to complaints of chest pain and hypertension following his arrest.

PGH Director Gerardo Legazpi told the court that Marcoleta had recovered from pneumonia and that his hypertension could be managed outside the hospital.

The medical team also concluded that the senator no longer had any condition requiring continued hospitalization.

Marcoleta remains in detention after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with a plunder case involving an alleged undeclared Php 75 million campaign donation received during his term as congressman.
