Fair weather prevails across most of PH

Generally fair weather was expected across much of the country on Thursday, with only isolated rain showers affecting some areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The state weather bureau said the southwest monsoon, or habagat, was influencing only the northernmost parts of Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and occasional rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

They added that the said the effects of the southwest monsoon remained confined to Extreme Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country was largely free from its influence.

Metro Manila and most areas in Luzon were forecast to experience warm and humid conditions, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and the chance of isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

Pagasa also expected generally fair weather to continue over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao in the next two days, with only localized thunderstorms likely to interrupt otherwise dry conditions.

The weather bureau said no tropical cyclone or low pressure area was expected to develop inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) over the next four to five days.

However, forecasters said the southwest monsoon was likely to strengthen over the weekend, bringing increased rainfall to the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

Pagasa advised the public to remain alert for localized thunderstorms, which could still trigger brief but heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds despite the generally fair weather.
