Rainy conditions are expected to persist in several areas across the country due to the combined effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and easterly winds, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported Saturday morning.
In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas. Meanwhile, Batanes and Cagayan will also experience similar weather patterns due to the prevailing easterlies.
The weather bureau warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in these regions may lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying or mountainous areas.
Metro Manila and much of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms likely in the afternoon or evening, also due to the easterlies.
PAGASA added that moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough sea conditions are expected over extreme Northern Luzon. Elsewhere in the country, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions will prevail.
