The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Friday that it has successfully delivered smart televisions and laptops to public schools nationwide ahead of the June 16 school opening.

This initiative is part of DepEd’s enhanced Early Procurement Activities (EPA), aimed at improving the quality of education and supporting the learning needs of students, in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“When these resources finally reach our schools, that’s when we truly experience the impact of real change,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara. “Learning becomes more engaging, more accessible to students, and more inspiring for our teachers.”

Under the DepEd Computerization Program, a total of 33,539 laptops have been allocated for teachers, while 5,360 units are designated for non-teaching personnel. Beginning June 16, around 1,340 of these laptops will be distributed to 268 public schools across Metro Manila.

In addition to laptops, the department has procured nearly 26,000 smart TV packages equipped with external hard drives to aid in digital and visual learning. Central Visayas will receive approximately 2,300 smart TV units, while procurement efforts are ongoing for the Zamboanga Peninsula and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

DepEd also reported progress in its textbook procurement efforts. The distribution of textbooks for Grades 1, 4, and 7 is already 99 percent complete. Procurement for Grades 2, 5, and 8 is halfway through, while book purchases for the remaining grade levels are scheduled to begin next year.

The department said these initiatives are intended to bridge learning gaps and modernize classroom instruction to better serve both students and teachers.
