Israeli forces carried out airstrikes early Wednesday in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut previous Israeli operations and remains a central base for Hezbollah.

The strikes come amid ongoing Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon, following cross-border attacks by Hezbollah since March 2.

These operations continue despite a ceasefire that began in November 2024, which was intended to halt hostilities between the two sides.

Hezbollah has launched rocket attacks into Israel in retaliation for the continued Israeli strikes.

The militant group also cited the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli operation on February 28 as justification for its attacks.

Residents of Beirut reported widespread fear as sirens sounded and explosions shook buildings, prompting people to seek shelter.

Lebanese authorities said Israeli attacks have so far killed at least 1,247 people and injured 3,690, reflecting the severe humanitarian toll of the conflict.

International observers have expressed concern over the escalation, calling for restraint and adherence to ceasefire agreements to prevent further civilian casualties.
